I did it! I finally purchased a Lathe cutting machine. What is lathe cutting and how does it relate to embossing? Check out this link for everything you want to know about that but in the meantime what is important is that I am now the proud owner of a Presto 6n! What does this mean? Well, I will be spending some time redesigning my room and my signal chain so that I can emboss records. I will be scratching sound on to all sorts of "things" for my friends and for some creative projects of my own. However what I am really, really, really, really excited about is using this machine to re-amp the various sounds that land in my studio.
I spent the last week in Tucson hanging with Mike Dixon learning how to use this vintage, antique of a machine. If you ever get the chance to do this I highly recommend it. I made a ton of great friends as well as experienced a ton of great art, music, and food. There is no doubt about it...Tucson rules.
